Earlier this year my aunt, Nancy, came to me with an idea for a book. She is a curriculum developer and discovered a need for a book like this, only she needed a photographer to help her complete the project. So together we decided what kinds of objects would be photographed and how. She wrote the text for the book and allowed me a little input (though she is the expert here). I took the photos and helped with the layout and What's different... What's the same? was born. It was such a learning experience, but was so exciting to see it come together.

Sessions must be booked over the phone and paid in full at time of booking. Only one session per family is allowed.
Sessions fill up fast and once they are first come first serve. Once the mini's are full only full sessions will be offered.

Session times are as follows:
Nov 12th- Escondido Studio (9:35am, 10am, 10:25am and 10:50am)
Old Poway Park (2:40pm, 3:05pm, 3:30pm, 3:55pm and 4:20pm)

Nov 13th- Escondido Studio (10am, 10:25am and 10:50am)

Sessions are 15 minutes long and are booked every 25 minutes. It is important to arrive for your session 10 minutes early to make sure your family is ready for photos. If you arrive late for your session you will not be given extra time.

2. Layer, layer, layer. Layers help bring depth to your photo.

This was my first time shooting at Twin Oaks Schoolhouse and I am IN LOVE with this place. This was so romantic and Erin took advantage of that atmosphere and planned the entire wedding around it. From her dress to the lanterns everything was just right. I had so much fun... can't wait to shoot there again!

Wow... I have been away for a while!

Ok, so I know it has been so, so long since my last post and I was never really good at posting all the time before that either. Life with baby JJ keeps me so busy, I am lucky if I have time to brush my hair! I decided it was time to get back on the wagon and get blogging. I am going to try and update the photos on my site as well... we will see how long that takes me!

Last week I did a shoot for Jenna Lee Blankets and I wanted to share a few with everyone. The blankets pictured are new and not on her site yet. They can be purchased by emailing Jenna at Jennaleebabyblankets@gmail.com.

These blankets are so luxurious. JJ has one of them that he sleeps swaddled in. The fabric is so very soft and just feels good next to the skin. I am thinking about getting some for props in the studio since the photos came out so cute. Let me know what you think!

LifeGroup Mini Sessions

So it's been forever since I have posted... nothing new there. I am usually pretty bad about posting new shoots, I just get so busy and forget. But lately I have been even worse. With the baby due my busiest time of year I just don't have time to do anything but think about my little man and work on client orders. Here is the exception... this weekend I photographed some mini sessions for the families in my LifeGroup (aka bible study) and I wanted to post a little preview. It is likely that they will be the last to get their photo before I go on maternity leave. (LifeGroup you know I love you, but I have to finish my client work first!) After 7 years of photographing all my clients babies, it is finally my turn... yes, I am pregnant! 15 weeks to be exact. Jack and I are very, very excited to expand the family, though Jack is a little freaked out!

With the exciting news out of the way now let's talk about the more serious stuff. Is anyone doing the math here... the baby is due December 1st... not exactly the best time to have a baby in my business so there will be a few changes this season that everyone should be aware of so that Christmas cards get done before my life gets turned upside down.

Booking Appointments
I will not be booking shoots for November. Last November I had almost 40 shoots for the month so all of us need to start planning ahead and making appointments for June through October. One thing that you should be aware of is the fact that I have a wedding every Saturday from June 26th through the end of August. I will be opening up every other Sunday to shoot, but those spots will fill up fast so if you need a weekend, don't wait to book. For those of you that have school age children, a mid week shoot might be perfect for you during summer time and is something you may want to consider.

Christmas Deadlines
There are a few of you that have not ordered your prints from last year. If you are planning on doing this please do so before the end of July. All print orders for 2009 shoots that are placed before the end of July will receive a 20% discount. If you need me to reload a gallery for you that is not problem just shoot me an email.

My 2010 deadlines may be extended depending on when the baby comes, but I won't guarantee anything before Christmas if the orders come in after the deadline . All shoots must be done before November. Print and card orders must be placed by November 20th in order to get them by Christmas. If you turn in your orders close to the deadline then turn around times may change depending on delivery so the earlier the better.

I know that getting orders in so early can be challenging, but it will help you and I eliminate some of that December stress by getting this done early.

Mini Sessions
Normally mini sessions take place all on the same weekend, I don't want to commit to 18 shoots over two days this session, I simply don't know how I will feel with a giant belly. So here is how it will work this year. I will have 15 mini session openings, no more. The sessions must be scheduled between September 15th and September 30th. Sessions will be $174 ($160 plus tax) and will go for 20 minutes each. You will have the option of shooting in the studio or shooting at Grape Day Park (down the street from my house). I added the option of a different location for those of you that have done mini sessions for the last few years and for those with toddlers. If you are planning on doing a mini session and have a baby who is not yet walking then the studio is the best location for your shoot. Again mini sessions come with 20-30 unretouched digital files. Call early, mini sessions fill up the fastest.

I have to be honest, I don't normally photograph seniors... I would not consider myself a senior photographer. With that said, I LOVE shooting seniors (shooting as in photographing, not shooting as in... shooting).

They are so open to trying new things, they just trust that what we are doing is going to look great (even if I am not always sure). And they are all about shooting is odd locations. Fun, Fun, Fun, I could shoot these all year long!

Anyhow, here are a few from my session this afternoon. Kacee was not only beautiful, but so easy to work with and didn't complain when I made her trek through the wilderness barefoot.

All that hair just adds to her charm and I have to tell you I was sad when they didn't leave her at my house as I so wanted to keep her. O.K. So I totally blew it and did not post winners on the 30th! October is a busy time for me and I just plain forgot. I had two people email me yesterday to ask who the winners were, I am thinking that the big man upstairs wants to make sure the winners get their shoots!

Anyhow, many of you will be surprised to hear that I had only two entries. Yup, only two. I am thinking that the divine is at work here. The emails I received about these families were heart felt and quite touching.

The first winner is... Jennifer Linton.

Her family was nominated by Jason and Leslie Willis. Just a little from the email Leslie sent me so you know what a wonderful family this is.

"When Patrick was about 3, I went to visit them and got the opportunity to take some candid photos of him. I was getting into photography and wanted to take as many pictures as I could to get the practice. She still has some up from that day..a very long time ago! She truly appreciates the art of photography ... She is such a loving and happy person and it shows in her day to day life. I would love for her to have an experience of what a true photo session is like and be able to treasure it forever...just like she did those simple snapshots from an amateur 8 years ago!"

Leslie also shared that Jennifer's husband served our country in the military for many years. It takes a special person to go through all the hardships of having a spouse that is serving.

I have promised a bunch of people that I would bring mini sessions back so here we go!

Mini sessions will take place on November 21st and 22nd. The sessions are $160 plus tax for up to 4 people and last for 30 minutes. The session includes a disc of digital files! Most of you know that I rarely give out digital files, this is the most cost effective way to get your photos in digital format!

Photos will be taken in my studio in Escondido.
All digital files are unretouched.
Files will be sent over the internet 1-2 weeks after the session.
Mini sessions will not exceed 30 minutes no matter the amount of people included in the session.

Picture Perfect Wedding

Yep, I titled it correctly, picture perfect wedding! Here is a short video from Jenessah and Matt's wedding. It was so beautiful and the bride and groom and all the guests were so much fun. At one point during the wedding a couple of boys on the dance floor took my camera, licked my check and took a photo of them dancing with me. That was defiantly a first for me, but I had a blast!

It is not very often that things come together so perfectly and I would have to say that Luxe Special Events and Positive Energy Productions (DJ) made my job so easy, thanks guys!

Halfdome fun? More like Halfdome terror!

Halfdome in winter

Many of you know that Jack and I have been training to hike Halfdome for the last 6 months. Well the day has come and gone and now is the time to tell you about our journey.

Because I am such a slow hiker Jack and I decided that it would be best to start early, very early. We woke up at 3am so that we could be out on the trail by 4am. With 2 head lights and 7 liters of water we began the long trek to the top of Halfdome. The first 3.5 miles of the hike are strenuous and we made it to the top of Nevada Falls just before sunrise. What a view that was! From that point on it is not that the hike was especially hard, but I was so tired from the first part that I was in no hurry.

I started to get a little worried about the last part of the hike (the cables) about 1.5 mile from the end. At this point Halfdome was visible from the trail and I am pretty sure all color left my face. Not only did the cable look terrifying, but the hike up to the cables looked equally as scary.

Many of you don't know this about me, but I am Aeroacrophobic, I have a fear of open high places. This didn't start or I did not realize that I had it until I went skydiving 5 years ago, mix that with the fact that I fell down two separate sets of stairs in my college years and you get what I am today. Really it is not so much the fear of heights, but the fear of falling from high places that really gets me. It is totally irrational and for me paralyzing.

So there I am watching ant size people walk up a set of stair (not even sure that they could be classified as stairs) with a 4000 foot drop on either side. No rails to hold onto, only your own balance to keep you on that mountain. Now that you know that I am not so good with stairs you can imagine my reaction. Jack asked me a number of times if I was ok. Like a good wife I nodded, but really I was on the verge of tears. Of course Jack knew better and made sure I was ok to go the rest of the way. Of course I had to go, this was Jack's goal, to climb Halfdome before the big 3-0.

Many articles you read about Halfdome do not even mention anything about Subdome, but one book did mention how tough that part of the hike is and they were not kidding. For many it is tough physically for me this is when I found out just how bad my fear had become... I had a panic attack on the side of Subdome. I was almost at the point of hyperventilating, but Jack did a good job of keeping me calm. I had to sit down for a few minutes and shed a few tears before I pulled myself together enough to continue on. I knew if I turned back that Jack would not continue on to meet his goal. I kept my head down (looking out would have brought on another panic attack) and concentrated on just making it up those steps. Once at the top of subdome there was enough space for me to feel confident that I would not fall off the edge of the mountains and I calmed down a bit. However, the cables going up the last 425 to the top of Halfdome was not a pleasant sight.

Looking at the cable from the top of subdome, it seems that they go up 90 degrees to the top. In reality it is probably more like 60 degrees, but still scary. Because we had hiked up Subdome so slowly, Jack was ready to go. A short rest and some water was all he needed to conquer that last part of the mountain. I on the other hand needed a whole lot more courage than what I possessed at that moment.

So, did I make it to the top? Of course not! Subdome was good enough for me. I think having that panic attack on the stairs made me realize that freaking out on the cables would not have been safe for anyone that was around me and I certainly did not want to put myself or others in danger. In the end, could I have made it up to the top... maybe, but at this point in my life my fear had gotten the better of me. Maybe in a few years I will attempt to make it to the top, but I will be armed with some anti-anxiety medicine and a safety harness for the cables. Jack did make it to the top and said it was pretty incredible. I am very, very proud of my husband for setting a goal and seeing it through. I also have to give him props for hiking with his slow wife and for encouraging me the entire way. There is no way I would have made it to the top of Subdome without him. I feel very blessed to have him.

In the end we hiked 16 miles (yes even me, I was only 425 feet from the end!), Jack sprained his toe coming down the cables, my pinky toe is one huge blister and the whole hike took us 13 hours to finish. And even though I did not make it to the top I am still very proud of how far I went and even more proud of my husband. I also want to thank Jen Chasson for training me all these months. There is no way I would have made it as far as I did without her help and support. Below are a few photos to give you and idea of where I stopped and how far Jack went!

Rancho Santa Fe Wedding

I can say enough good things about this couple. Not only are they so beautiful but they were also so easy to work with. Poor Michael was stung by a sting ray a few days before the wedding and limped his way through all the photos the ceremony and the reception without complaint. He did everything I asked of him during photos because he wanted the very best photos for his bride, Tessa... now that is love! So a big thank you to the bride and groom for making my job so easy. I say all the time how much I love my work, but working with couples like this makes me love it even more! Here is a small sample from their wedding day.

Sometimes I feel like there is just no purpose to this blog, but since I must have one or two of you that check back regularly I will keep posting. I think more people check my facebook and I have only had that a week! Finally time to add a few extra photos from B and Z's shoot... it only took me a month!

I recently started attending a Tuesday night bible study where I met Bethany and Zeb. I had been on the look out for a fun couple to do a test shoot of and I thought they were perfect. Bethany was super excited when I asked if they would be willing to be my guinea pigs for a photo shoot. We picked the Bonsall Bridge for our shoot because I had never shot there before and a photographer friend of mine likes to shoot at that location (Flux Photography). Bethany and Zeb were so willing to do whatever I asked (even climb down into the weeds and sit on a chair we found on the side of the road). At one point during the shoot I asked B and Z to "play have fun together, forget I'm here..." They looked at me like a deer in headlights... "you want us to do what?" Clearly they were hoping for a little direction. Anyway, once they settled into the pace of the shoot they did beautifully and yes I did catch a few moments of them "playing together".

I did the test shoot on Monday, Tuesday Beathany says to me, "Jamie I was checking the blog all day... no pictures yet?" Oops I have not even loaded them onto my computer because I am running low on disk space and need to go buy another external harddrive. Anyway since I know she is hoping to see something from the shoot I thought I would post one now. Check back again in a few days, I will load a bunch once I have some free time and some free disk space!

O.K. so I have totally neglected my blog over the last month. I am so sorry. I have had some big changes at home that have totally caused a back up in work for me. Sorry I can't give more detail, but I have been trying to catch up with my work for the last two weeks. Anyhow, I am going to try to post a few things tonight so that I can feel caught up on my blog as well as my orders and editing.

This is an engagement shoot I did about two weeks ago. It was such fun! Mark took a little time to warm up, but once he got the hang of it we had photo magic! Nicole was totally at ease in front of the camera and I have to add that she is quite beautiful. So here they are...

I did an early morning shoot today with a friend of mine. I didn't know I could have so much fun at 7 in the morning, but she has the type of personality that just puts people in a good mood. So not only is she tons of fun, but beautiful and really incredible in front of the camera. I think I took almost 400 shoots in just 1 hour. I threw together a little video of our early morning romp in the weeds.

This is the second time I have had the pleasure if photographing baby E. You can find her three month photo in "I'm in China!" I think baby E is 8 months now. She is pretty much the same size as she was at our last shoot. What a peanut! Anyhow, she was so much fun to shoot and hopefully that will show in the photos.

So I had the pleasure of photographing Baby Faith when she was just a few weeks old... what a sweetheart!

Fast forward 7 months. It is time to see Baby Faith again and this time she is not so happy to see me. Last week she came and did not even crack a smile, I think I took a total of 3 photos in 1 hour. We decided that she was probably sick or teething and set a time for her to come back again. As you can see from the photo below most of our second shoot was trying to stop those crocodile tears from falling.

No worries though we did get a few really beautiful shots! I think Faith just had a little stranger anxiety.

So I don't usually post things that have nothing to do with photo, but I wanted to share with everyone what is happening in my life. As most of you know, I am not a small girl. You will usually hear me say I am fat and happy, which is very true about my life. I am very happy... blessed is more like it. I have an incredible husband that I adore, two wonderful dogs (though Roosevelt can be a pain in the rear sometimes) and a job that I love. Anyway, Jack and I decided that we want to hike Half Dome before he turns... wait I can't post his age because some of his students read, sorry Kearny Students. So before his next birthday in October. I am also hoping that Jack will give the green light to start a family in 2010. In order to do both these things, half dome and pregnancy, I need to lose a few pounds (boy I hate dieting!) So to keep me accountable I thought I would pretty much share this with... well everyone. I have added a weight loss tracker on the blog so everyone can make sure that I am keeping with it. Please keep in mind that I have to update it manually so it it doesn't change for a while shoot me a email or comment as a reminder. I will try and update it weekly, but most of you know what just might not happen.

So please keep me in your prayers, I can use all the help I can get!

I photographed a 4.5 hour newborn shoot tonight. Baby L and mom and dad were troopers. It took her a little time to settle in, but once we go started she slept pretty well. I had warned mom and dad that we might not be able to do any bowl photos because I didn't think she was sleeping heavily enough... she made a total liar out of me! Here is a sweet bowl photo from the very end of our shoot. Check back for more later.

So most of you know that I do a lot of close up work in my natural light studio, but every once in a while I venture out to a new location and shoot something totally different. In most cases I do this for clients that I have worked with for many year. Anyhow, there is this fun little park by my house that we headed out to for this shoot. We took a ton of photos, these happened at the end of the shoot while we were trying to catch something a little less portraity. Enjoy.

I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays. Jack and I went to Yosemite from the 19th to the 23rd and then came back and enjoyed some time with each of our families. I guess it is back to work next week, but the break was so relaxing! I am going to start blogging once again since I will have time to now. The question is... will I have anything to blog about! Kearny Photo Club

My husband and I just recently started a photo club at the high school he teaches for. He told me when we started that I would be required to shoot the assignments with the kids. Can I tell you that I am having a blast! Getting to shoot for myself again has been wonderful and reminds me why I love photography. Anyhow, we photographed flowers the other day with the students and I had a chance to grab a couple photos. I wanted to share them with you.

One of the other assignments the kids were given over break was "open", meaning they could photograph anything they wanted. Since I like to photograph people I asked a client's daughter to come over and model for me. Brooke was incredible and I had a blast! Here are a few from the shoot.

Like photographing 2 year old twins!

So yesterday Jack (my husband) asked me to photograph our dogs together. (Keep in mind that Roosevelt is only 13 weeks old) I told him no way, that would be like photographing 2 year old twins! I just didn't want to do it. He asked again with that cute little pout that he knows I love and so I promised to do it only if he helped me. Little did I know that our chance would come the very next day, today. Jack and I got up early to go for a long walk with the boys (it helps keep Roosevelt manageable) I found out right after our walk that my morning shoot had to cancel so we gathered up our tired puppies and had a go at it. Overall they came out pretty cute. (Jack took the vertical shot, he is getting so good!) Enjoy, because I will not be doing that again... well maybe I will try again before we send out our holiday card.

South Coast Winery Wedding

This past weekend I had the pleasure to photograph the wedding of Emily and Brian. I photographed Emily's twin sisters wedding as well as a few of her friends so I felt right at home with all the girls. It took place at probably the most beautiful winery in Temecula, South Coast Winery. Pair an incredible location with a great looking couple and you get photographer heaven! The planets must have aligned that day because I was also blessed with an overcast sky. For those of you who are not photographers, that basically means that I could shoot anywhere on the grounds without worrying about shadows that the sun creates. Anyway, enough about my perfect conditions. I also want to add that this was the largest wedding party I have ever photographed, 12 on each side. A big thank you to all the bridesmaids and groomsmen that made my job so much easier than I thought it would be. And congratulations to Emily and Brian, you guys are great together. Fun new prop

I have been looking for some fun props for the last few years and found two great trencher bowls on ebay. I have only received one of them so far and my first chance to use it can today. I had the pleasure of photographing a darling 4 week old. Usually I like to get newborns between 7 and 10 days because they sleep a little better. This little girl made me look like a liar. She was such a good sleeper and we finished the shoot and entire hour early because she was so good! Anyhow, I am going to post the photo with my new prop, but will add more once I edit the shoot.

I had a fun little shoot yesterday with a 2 and 4 year old. Normally 2 is a very hard age, but little B did so well and was such a good listener! I fell in love with a few of the photos of the kids together and wanted to share them. Please excuse the fact that they are unretouched. My time is crunched these days with Christmas fast approaching, but I know all those blog junkies will get on my case if I don't keep them entertained!

Valley Center Wedding

Ok, so I had an incredibly beautiful backyard wedding yesterday. Sometimes backyard weddings can be difficult to shoot, but not this one. The house was just stunning and it was surrounded by avocado groves. The groves became the backdrop for nearly all the "formal" photos. My bride and groom (one of my very favorite couples) were so incredible and indulged myself and Lorenzo of Flux Photography for some time. I think by the end they were all pictured out, but all that hard work was definatly worth it, check it out!

Mini Sessions! November 2nd

Ok, here we go... mini sessions are back and better than ever! November 2nd will be the mini session day. The sessions are $150 for up to 4 people and last for 30 minutes. The session includes a disc of digital files!!! I never offer all the digital files so take advantage of this offer now. I usually charge $1000 per 15 files. I will be booking sessions every 45 minutes starting at 9am. The last session starts at 3:45. That means there are only 10 sessions open. It is important to call soon and book the time that your kids are happiest.

Photos will be taken in my studio in Escondido.
All digital files are unretouched.
Files will be available 1 week after the sessions for pick up.
Mini sessions will not exceed 30 minutes no matter the amount of people included in the session.

UPDATE 9.25: The first five sessions are already full. I have 12:45 and after open... only five left!
9.26: Two spots left, 2:15 and 3:45!

Ok, I know I have not posted in a while and I promised to post every week... oops! The new puppy has been taking up all my time, it is like having a newborn at home. He happens to be so bad that Jack and I have hired a trainer to come save us. We have given Roosevelt the nickname monster because that is pretty much what he is. Despite his chewing, barking, peeing and biting we still love him, most of the time.

Anyhow I am not posting to talk about the dog but because I had a really wonderful shoot the other day that I wanted to share with you. Enjoy!

Ok, for those of you I did not tell (I think I probably told everyone I know) the new puppy is finally here! He is very beautiful and does everything that puppies do, cry, pee on our new floor, chew important things, and makes us laugh! He is such a joy. Don't worry, churchill is still our number one, but I would not nominate him for any hospitality awards. He pretty much ignores Roosevelt or barks and growls at him. I am hoping in a few weeks they will be great friends, I will keep you posted. For now I have a short 1 minute video of the boys first meeting and a photo from my phone : ) Sad that a professional photographer is loading photos off the phone, I know. My plan is to take a few real photos of Roosevelt in the next few days, those will be sent out on the puppy announcement.

So I photographed a family that I LOVE a few weeks ago (I know I am a little behind on my postings). We originally were going to shoot on the beach, but I found this great little spot (I am sure I am the last photographer in SD to find out about it!) and we ended up doing most of the shoot there. These kids or should I say teens are so easy to work with and we got some really incredible photos.

I did a maternity shoot about two weeks ago and had such a blast! My clients brought along their beloved dog, Donkey, who I fell in love with immediately (though I don't think Donkey had the same feelings). We shot at Wind N Sea, one of the most beautiful beachs in San Diego. This couple seemed to be so in love, they made my job easy since they kissed, laughed and hugged the entire shoot!

Geeked out weekend

So over the weekend I have a very dear friend of mine out for a visit. Because she is also a photographer I thought it would be great to do a photo day with a bunch of our photo pals, there were 7 of us in all. I am not sure if anyone realizes what dorks photographers turn into when they get around other photographers. It is equivalent to hanging around with 7 die hard star treks fans, all we could talk about was cameras, f-stops and filters.

The other thing that was wonderful about the trip is that I got to watch the process of a photographer that I really respect, you can check out his blog at Flux Photography.
I was joking all day that he was magical (I am not sure how much he enjoyed that joke), but we all thought it was great. Plus I think we all found out in the process that we are a little magical ourselves because we all got some pretty incredible photos.

I am going to try and collect a few shots from each of the photographers that don't have a blog and post them, but for now here are a few of my own, enjoy!

8.24.08 I finally received a few photos from so of the other photo geeks that came on the trip. (I am still waiting on Jack, Sly and Jordan to send me some photos!) Anyhow here we go.

Chad (our youngest photo geek) was the first to send over photos. Although he is just starting out he has a very good eye, I think if he sticks with it he will be great! He had such a good attitude the entire day and fit in quite well with all the old folks. He also got to do a little modeling for Lorenzo. It is rare trait to find a photographer who likes to be in front of the camera as well as behind it. Heck, I like to hide behind it as much as possible... not photos of me please. Anyhow here is Chad's self portrait and a shot he titled "piano".

Next we have Cyndi Hardy. She is one of my dearest friends and was my roommate at Brooks. She is a Phoenix photographer who had a incredible talent for underwater photography and architecture photography. She recently had one of her backup digital cameras turned in to an infrared camera (yep, I'm a little jealous, but she did let me use it) It was her first time out playing with it and WOW she got some really great shots! Cyndi, Jack and I went back out the next day to do some beach shots at Wind N Sea so please don't mistake her beach photo for Salton Sea. Anyhow, enjoy!

Ok, so I was going to try and photograph Churchill everyday for 10 days to see what kind of photos I would get, but here it is day three... or maybe it is day four and I have only done the one set. I think maybe I will change it to one session on day one and one session on day ten... yeah, I think that will work, less work for me! Anyhow, I just got new photos of the pup. He is one month old yesterday. I can't tell you how much I love this little dog and I have not even met him yet! The breeder says he is very laid back and and likes to be carried around (he is gonna have to get use to walking soon, I don't think I can lift a 90 pound dog). She also says that he will stay in any position they put him in. Hopefully this will be a good match for Churchill, he tends to be pretty bossy and it sounds like the new pup and take a little direction. Enough of my rambling, here he is.

I came across a website today that gave me a little insperation... Ashley Newton is a san diego pet photographer. Her work is just beautiful, I figure since I am a professional photographer I might be able to take a few great shots of my own furry friend, Churchill. Now my photos are not quite what Ashleys are, but with a little practice I may be able to get some great shots when the new pup comes in September. I think I may try and do a mini session with Churchill everyday for the next ten days and see what happens. Check back and see if I really photograph him everyday! Anyhow, here a a few shots from session #1 with my mini schnauzer and his very favorite toy.

I realize that it has been forever since my last post. Hopefully you will think my reasoning is sound, we moved... into our first house!!! Yipee! Jack and I (with the help of our wonderful families) have been renovating an 50 year old house the the past two months. We finally moved in about a week ago and have been trying to settle in. The new house also boasts a natural light studio. Once the studio is completely put together I will take some photos and post them. For not I do have a photo to post, but I did not take it...

Yep, you guessed it, we have a new member of the family flying home in September. Jack and I are waiting for our little guy to get old enough to ship. He is about 5 or 7 days old in the photos. We should get him at about 6 weeks. He is a Giant Schnauzer. For those of you who have meet Churchill (photo below), they will look very similar only one is 18lbs and the new puppy will eventually be about 95lbs.
Anyhow, more photos to come soon. I will try and get the studio finished and photographed and I have a few shoot to post from.

The bride and groom were so easy going, it was a short 3 hour coverage and we had a ton of time to shoot after the ceremony... it does not get much better than that. Enjoy.

Have I told everyone how much I love photographing newborns?!? Here is another little guy from last week that I can't resist posting. Dad is a fire fighter and had his gear with him. It is not something I normally do, but I am glad we tried it. Baby C was screaming about 30 seconds before we put him in the hat. I guess God was smiling on us because he calmed right down when we placed him. Maybe he is just really comfy with that fire gear and will follow in dad's footsteps.

Hey everyone! I know I have not posted in a while... I have been so busy!!!

Anyway, I am hoping to steal a few minutes of your day to give you an update on Jamie Moore Photography and have you fill out a short survey.

I am entering an exciting time in my business and I am hoping I can get your help. I am currently reorganizing the way things run to create an experience that clients will enjoy. Part of this process is pinpointing exactly what my clients wants and needs are. I am hoping everyone can take a few minutes and fill out a short survey to help me gather this info. Busy, Busy, Busy

Boy, for my slow season I seem to be busier than last November! I am a little behind in orders so I have to give up blogging for a while. I do have a few new shoots to post from, but I don't have the time at the moment to totally get updated. I will try and get a few samples up from each shoot by weeks end. After that I will be in retouching hell- I have a fundraier on Fri and Sat that will require me to retouch 100 little faces! Fun! Fun! Fun!

I did a "headshot" shoot on Sunday and had so much fun. It is amazing how much I enjoy my job, especially when the person in front of the camera loves it too!

Sunrise Shoot

This morning I went out for a sunrise shoot with a few of my photo buddies. Waking up early on a holiday is never easy, but it was worth it. We went to a burn area near the house and it was pretty eerie, but it was also very peaceful and the shoot was such a stress reliever! Here are a few of my favorites.

Balboa Park

I did an engagement shoot last week at Balboa Park. E & B were tons of fun, half of the pictures I took that day were of them kissing! It is nice to see a couple that is so loving. It was a pretty laid back shoot which was a nice change from the high energy children shoots. I am looking forward to photographing the wedding in October, they are such a cute couple!

Baby A

I have a shoot with baby A last week and he was such a good sleeper! (Good pooper too!) For one reason or another The G family and I had to re-schedule a number to times so little A here was almost 4 weeks! He is still a little peanut if you ask me. Anyhow the shoot was great and we got some really sweet photos.

I had a shoot with the "O" family on Friday. It was a nice change to photography a family with an adult child. I am sure I embarrassed them a little with my "say poop" and having them belly laugh on command. However, those techniques always seem to work because we got some really fun stuff. There is some more traditional poses that I did not post, I really just wanted to show some of my favorites that are not "beach portraits".

Don't worry, it is less that 20 minutes! I would not want you to have to watch a really really long home video. Plus my feelings will not be hurt if you decide to shut it off, just lie to me next time we see each other : )

We are back!

So our trip to Ireland was incredible! We were there during the biggest rain storm since 1996. A large part of south Ireland had severe flooding. Luckily, we were mostly on the west and east coasts. I definitely did rain on us, but the wind and cold was the worst.

The roads there are so small I was sure Jack was going to take off a side of our very, very small car. One of the locals told us that a lot of the roads were build during the potato famine to help provide jobs and that they were meant to hold one horse and carriage, not a two way road.

My very favorite spot was the Cliffs of Mohr. The day we went the weather forecaster told us to expect gail force winds in some places, well they were right! At one point the wind was blowing so hard that snot would drop from our noses and blow away! (it was very cold so we had a runny nose almost the entire trip).

Jack and I also decided to take the road less traveled and visit some odd little castles most people don't make time to visit. One such castle, Cliften Castle almost got the best of me. Jack and I knew it was a short hike to the structure, but were having a hard time finding the entrance. Since not everything in Ireland is well marked, we choose a spot where we could see the castle (that turned out not to be the entrance) Since it had been raining most of the day the place to started hiking from was pretty muddy, luckily I had just bought a pair of rain boots 10 minute prior to going to the castle. Well, rain boots just were not enough. Halfway to the castle I sunk down into the mud past the top of my boots. I could not get the boots out so I hiked back to the car in 30 dergee mud in my socks! Jack pulled the boots from the mud and hiked back with me. Once I got to the car in my muddy socks and muddy jeans we realized that I had stepped in more than just mud... yep, you guessed it, sheep poop. I took off my socks and jeans and I road back to the hotel pants-less. Jack and I had a long hard laugh about that day. We did go back the next day to conquer Cliften Castle, but I am left with a new found fear of mud.

Enough of my silly stories, I know everyone is dieing to see some photos so...

I will post more photo from the trip as Jack and I go through all of them, this is just from a single day so come back again and take a look-

Marie and I go back a few years and I am so happy to be photographing her wedding in June! We shot at La Jolla Cove, where Byron popped the question! Enjoy.

Well I finally jumped on the band wagon and got a blog. I am not totally sure how all this works yet, but I am sure that I will catch on at some point. I am hoping to post "sneak peek" photos from my baby shoots so we will see if I can keep up!
